Sissel Kyrkjebø
The nightingale from Norway with the angelic voice. I gave up the dream of her becoming my wife. I should probably be satisfied if security allows me within 100 meters of her...

Quiet for some time now...

Nothing much is going on at the moment with our favourite artists but there are a few upcoming events that might give us some more Sissel.

In June, Swedish TV4 will start their own singalong show to compete with the long running show on Swedish national TV. TV4 are the ones most frequently showing Sissel so I wrote to them asking them to invite Sissel and they responded immediately that my message was received and delivered to the show's producer. If you live in one of the Nordic countries you too can write to them and ask for Sissel. They have an online form here: http://www.tv4.se/1.323757/kontakta_tv4_gruppen
As "Mottagare:" I choose "TV4 - programfrågor". You can read about the singalong show here: http://www.tv4.se/1.897479 (Swedish only)
The show will be recorded only 20 km from where I live so if Sissel gets there maybe I should go and watch her...

Once a year, Sissel's home town Bergen has a music festival lasting for many days: http://www.fib.no/
Sissel is going to perform there with Bryn Terfel on June 2nd so I wrote to Norwegian national television NRK and asked if they were planning to show parts of this festival. They responded today that it wasn't decided yet but that Norwegian radio channel NRK Klassisk usually broadcast from there. It's a free to air radio channel on the satellite here so I will record Sissel there if they choose to air her performance. It probably wouldn't hurt if more people wrote to them asking for Sissel: http://www.nrk.no/kontakt/

Sissel's concert with Bryn Terfel is mentioned in this Norwegian article but in the TV and radio schedules at the bottom, I can't see that it will be aired unfortunately. I will record whatever is listed there just in case...

Sissel was interviewed right now on the Norwegian radio show "Mozart og Madonna". I've been recording every Norwegian TV and radio show, potentially reporting from the music festival in Bergen, for the past week and a half and also the major news shows, in the hope to catch a glimpse of Sissel and this was the first time. I'll continue until the festival ends the coming Wednesday and make a torrent of what I've got then. Sissel will hold two small concerts Saturday and Sunday evening and then the open air concert with Bryn Terfel on Tuesday. It's now safe to say that none of them will be aired publically, at least not now, but I would be surprised if none of them were mentioned on the news. We'll just have to wait and see.

Norwegian radio reported this morning that only half of the 5000 available tickets for Sissel's and Bryn's concert tonight, have been sold so far. The weather is excellent so they hope to sell many more. The concert starts in 8.5 hours but it will take me 12.5 hours to get there by car so I won't be buying one... if I had only known this yesterday.

Well, the concert is over and Norwegian news programs only mentioned it briefly. No interviews, no nothing - maybe 20-30 seconds of time on each program. Only one of them had actual video from the concert but it only lasted long enough to hear Sissel and Bryn sing the words "Ave Maria...". Not even sure it's worth the trouble to make a torrent of it but here are two screen shots at least.

Nice! I never think of searching for bootleg videos there. Now let's hope there was at least one TV company there recording this for later cause I sure would like to see this concert!

I heard on the Norwegian radio right now that they only sold 2500 tickets in the end, out of 5000. In an interview on TV yesterday, one of the organizers claimed they needed to sell 4000 tickets to make a profit. Guess the ticket price of €60 was a bit too high.

I find that there is another short video provided by a newspaper.

Taper penger på kjølig folkefest
http://www.bt.no/bergenpuls/festspill/article858009.ece

To prevent it from being removed, I try to download it, but I still can't figure out a way.

The source of the video should lie in somewhere in the code of the following page.

bt.no unfortunately chose a Windows-only solution for that video - Silverlight. I can't help you with that. The positive thing is that the venue at least seems to have been recorded so let's hope we will see it on television or DVD later on. Hopefully they didn't hire the technicians from "Frostroses" for this...

On June 22nd, the first episode in the singalong show mentioned in the top post, will air. TV4 still haven't revealed which artists will visit the show so right now I'm waiting for that to be official.

TV4 today announced the artists that will participate in their singalong program. Sissel's name was not among them. I don't give up hope completely yet though because the long list of artists ends with an "and others".
