Skavlan (20101114)

Sissel is once again a guest of Skavlan's. This time together with Sweden's equally popular Carola with whom she sings a duet. The main interview is about 10 minutes long but Sissel is also present during the next 30 minutes of the show, occasionally answering some question. Creating subtitles for those first 10 minutes took almost 3 hours. It simply takes that long to find a good translation and make sure the subtitle is properly synced to the audio. If anyone absolutely must have the other 30 minutes of video, sure I can add it but you'll have to do without subtitles on that.

Morgan,

Thanks so much.

The subtitle overlaps. Here is a method to make it a little better. I am running VLC on Linux, and I hope the following can help you too.

I move the translated text to the top of the screen.

1. Tools -> Perferences -> Subtitles & OSD -> Force Subtitle Position -> 800 px

2. Save and then close VLC.

3. Start VLC again. If 800 is not good for you, change it to a larger number.

4. After watching the video, set the number back to 0.

Yes, that's pretty annoying. There's a "background" option for the subtitles in VLC and I've tried to make it put a solid black background behind the text to cover the hardcoded subtitles but I've failed. I've probably misunderstood something so your suggestion is the best I've seen so far. Thanks for sharing it - I'm sure a lot of people will be much happier now. :-)

katbert,

Thanks so much. I'm running VLC 1.1.4 on MS WinXP and changing subtitle position to 500px moves the translated text just to the top of the screen.

Skavlan

I remember the first time Sissel guested Skavlan. That was in December 2001. She sang "O Mio Babbino Caro" and that was one of the best perfomances I have seen of Sissel singing that song.

Too bad I didn't have my digital recording equipment back then. Got it a year later. The oldest recording on this forum is 7 years now. Time really flies...

Skavlan

She did also sing "Gå Inte Förbi" with Peter Jöback on Skavlan in November 2004, but I can`t find that appearance either.

I obviously missed that one which only emphasizes the importance of getting your help checking the TV schedules. It's very easy for me to miss an appearance so the more of you who check your local schedules, the better. Just post in the "Upcoming events" sub-forum or send me a PM. All help is appreciated.
